Summary of Position:
FX Technical Directors are responsible for generating FX animation, procedural simulation, dynamic simulation, and particle and fluid systems for feature film visual effects. Responsibilities also include the lighting, rendering and basic compositing of those FX elements.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
•Designs and creates FX animation, procedural simulation, dynamic simulation, and particle and fluid systems.
•Lights and renders FX elements and creates basic composite to demonstrate the usability of the elements.
•Advanced simulation experience with Houdini, Maya, XSI, 3DS Max or other software, and ability to write expressions or authoring of shaders are required.
•Linux and scripting ability in Python preferred, and experience in MEL highly desired; C++ skills also applicable.
•Responsible for mentoring other digital artists in FX simulation work.

Requirements:
•Demo reel demonstrating artistic and technical ability is required for this role.
•5+ years work experience required in visual effects.
•Feature film experienced required
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Computer Science, computer visualization, or computer animation required.
•Proficiency with Linux is required.
•Expertise with Maya and/or other high-end animation software is required.
•Experience with C++, mel, python, or other scripting languages is desirable.

Maxsar Digital Studios in Livonia has a number of internships for OU students beginning summer 2010 through winter 2011. Maxsar recently relocated from Florida and is a fully operational film company with corporate offices, production offices, sound stages, and post production suites in Livonia.

Maxsar is composed of 6 different companies that encompass all aspects of filmmaking - sales and distribution, film production, post production services, visual FX services (CGI) and online gaming creation. You can download a complete list of internships here. There are many different types of internships available but most relate to editing, writing, post production (visual/audio), etc.

It varies by department, but the expectation is to hire students at the Jr/Senior level (or recent grads) for internships and then move them into full time positions based on the success of the internship. These are excellent opportunities for students to build their resume and gain invaluable, hands-on experience. We are college students on a low budget and working to develop a 10-minute segment for a program at our school. We are seeking a camera person and makeup artist for a one day film shoot.

Compensation:
Camera Operator: Pay is $150 plus credit for shooting and editing.  Makeup Artist: Pay is $50 kit fee and meals, plus you get experience, credit and free copy of the video for your future use as examples of your work.

A nimble, progressive and exciting company is seeking a Software Developer for a potentially long-term contract position in southern Connecticut - in a very attractive location easily accessible to New York City. 

This individual will be responsible for key modules of the production software throughout the development cycle, ranging from specifying functional requirements by working with multi-disciplinary teams, providing detailed design specifications, outlining testing effort, to implementing the software and executing the testing steps to qualify the product, etc.

The engineer will work closely with the team leader, the project management and other developers to create robust software that offers advanced architecture and fulfills the business needs.  We are seeking someone with a Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.  As one will be working within a team, this does require that one work on site.

We are seeking someone with three – to five years of overall software engineering experience focused on embedded system programming . . .

Candidates must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, a minimum of three years of C/C++ programming experiences with an emphasis on embedded system programming, a minimum of three years of Unix programming experiences – preferably on Solaris or Linux, experience or proven ability in technical specifications, experience or proven ability in designing complex software architecture, experience in Python and Clearcase – are pluses.
